Meet Renee...

Renee's Story

Renee is a good friend and the sister of our best friend. She was a normal person just going through life until... June 2011 Renee was diagnosed with Epithelial Mesothelioma. Epithelial Mesothelioma is a rare type of lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure (Renee is unsure when she was exposed). Because this is so rare, Renee had to travel to Boston to have surgery at Bringham Hospital. Her surgeon removed one lung and her diaphragm. Recently they found the cancer in her liver and she is currently participating in a clinical trial study based in Boston. Participating in this trial means she has to travel to Boston on a regular basis. Due to the surgery and the chemo treatments Renee has not been able to work since June.

We've known Renee for quite awhile and healthy, she is tenacious and full of life. This fight has taken it's toll on her body but not on her spirit! We've seen her become a more beautiful person both inside and out and so, we'd like to do what we can to help her while she completes this battle because we have faith that she will shine, shine, shine -  which is why I'm posting this.

There is a benefit being  held for Renee this weekend to help raise money for her medical bills. Unlike approved procedures, a trial study is not covered by insurance and the travel back and forth to Boston every week is adding to the debt. Here is a link to the site that explains a bit about the benefit and how to donate http://cutcancerforrenee.bbnow.org/index.php. To keep track of Renee and how she is doing you can visit CaringBridge for updates.
